Nemo's cabins and ranches sit deep in the Black Hills on crawl spaces and over shops, where the semi-arid mountain climate swings from 20-below winters to summer afternoons that push heat through every gap and seam. Spray foam insulation and air sealing are not luxuries here, they are the difference between a heating bill that makes sense and one that doesn't, between a shop that stays dry and one that sweats and drips every chinook thaw.
Rapid City Spray Foam Insulation has been serving Nemo and the surrounding Hills since 2012. Our crews understand the specific challenges of seasonal cabins, crawl space moisture, and metal-frame buildings that frost inside and leak warm air in winter. We show up with the right equipment, the right crew insurance, and the knowledge to get it right the first time.
Spray Foam Insulation in Nemo (57759)
Nemo's building stock tells the story of the Hills. Log and frame cabins built decades ago sit on shallow crawl spaces with no insulation and no vapor barrier. Ranch-style homes and shops run open rim joists and band joists that bleed heat straight into the cold ground. Metal buildings and barndominiums, newer and older alike, have uninsulated walls and roofs that frost inside on winter mornings and sweat on spring thaws. The terrain is steep, the foundation access is tight, and moisture moves up from the ground almost year-round in the semi-arid climate.
Closed cell spray foam seals crawl spaces and stops vapor drive. Open cell foam fills cavities in walls and rim joists and breathes. Both are measured in board feet, sprayed to a specified thickness, and backed by a written estimate with the R-value and thickness specs that matter. We have been installing both in Nemo and the Rapid City area for over a decade. We know the local building code, we coordinate with the local building official, and we leave your property clean.

How a Job Works in Nemo
We start with a free on-site assessment. We look at the space, measure what has to be covered, ask about the current insulation and any moisture or condensation you have seen, and listen to what you want to accomplish. We give you a written estimate with the R-value, thickness, material choice (open cell or closed cell), and the total cost before we spray anything.
On the day of the work, our fully insured crew arrives with the spray rig and all safety gear. We set up mechanical ventilation to manage the smell during cure. We protect your floors and belongings. We spray the foam to the thickness specified in the estimate, control the ratio and drum temperature, and air seal the gaps around rim joists, band joists, and ductwork. If insulation has to come out first because it is wet or contaminated, we remove it and haul it away. We do not spray over a wet or leaking substrate, and we walk away if the moisture is not fixed first.
After the foam cures, we do a final walkthrough with you, answer any questions, and clean up the work site. We tell you the re-entry window, which is typically twenty-four to forty-eight hours. Your property is left clean and ready to use.
Attic spray foam in Nemo typically runs from $1.50 per square foot for open cell to $1.20 per board foot for closed cell, depending on the thickness and R-value you need and whether existing insulation has to be removed first. Crawl space work usually starts at $2,500 and goes up with the square footage and the depth of the space. Rim and band joist sealing runs from $650 and up. Wall injection foam for closed cavities in older frame homes runs from $2 per square foot. Metal building and barndominium spray foam runs from $1.75 per square foot. Insulation removal is from $950. The final cost depends on the area to cover, the R-value and thickness required by code at your address, whether you choose open or closed cell, and whether existing insulation or contaminated material has to come out first.
